On Mount Athos, a band of sea pirates attacked the Vatopedi Monastery. However, the Most Holy Theotokos, as the Overseer, warned the abbot not to open the gate. She appeared from her icon, showing living expressions and informing him of the danger. The abbot and the monks, guided by this warning, managed to defend themselves from the attack. The icon remains known as “Utesiteljica” (Comforter), with the face of the Theotokos expressing compassion and mercy, while the face of Jesus Christ shows anger and wrath.
