The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos Pećka – “Pećka Krasnica,” painted by the hand of the apostle Luke, is said to have been brought from Jerusalem to Constantinople, then to the Russian lands, and before it, Vladimir, the Baptizer of Russia, was baptized. Saint Sava received it in 1219 in Nicaea from the Patriarch of Constantinople, during the granting of the Tomos for the establishment of the Serbian Archbishopric.
