The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Umiljenje” is connected with the name of the great Russian saint, St. Seraphim of Sarov. This saint spent his entire life under the protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, who appeared to him several times in visions and healed him from fatal illnesses. A special place among his icons was held by the one in his cell, called “Umiljenje,” which Seraphim referred to as the Joy of all joys.
