HOLY THEOTOKOS SVECARICA

The cross is crafted by combining iconographic techniques inspired by Byzantine and medieval originals.

It is produced through metal casting and meticulous hand-finishing, enriched with 24-karat gold and 925 silver, adorned with zircon stones, and set into the finest pieces of waxed walnut wood.

The dimensions of the cross are 93 mm x 150 mm x 22 mm.

In the depiction of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos Svecarica, she is often shown in the attire of an Empress, emphasizing her Divine glory and importance in Christian theology. The icon of the Theotokos of Heaven serves as an encouragement for believers to turn to the Theotokos in difficult times, seeking comfort and assistance. The miraculous icon of the Mother of God—Queen of Heaven—was painted in the 17th century and is located in the Vatopedi Monastery on the left side of the Cathedral church.
