He was a confessor, rector, builder, and the first inhabitant of the Brâncoveanu Monastery, which had stood empty for over a hundred years before he later moved to the Prislop Monastery. Father Arsenie spent a large part of his life under the strict supervision of the security services, denied the right to leave his place of residence, staying in an art studio and his cell. He passed away there on November 28, 1989, and was buried in the cemetery of the Prislop Monastery. From the very first days, his grave became a place of pilgrimage for believers from all over Romania.
