Cyril and Methodius, known as the “Apostles to the Slavs,” were brothers from 9th-century Thessaloniki who spread Christianity and literacy among the Slavs, creating the first Slavic script – Glagolitic. Through their mission to Great Moravia, the translation of books, and their teaching, they laid the foundations of Slavic culture. Their memorial day is celebrated on May 24th.
