Saint Paisios of Mount Athos was one of the most significant Athonite elders of the 20th century. Born in the village of Farasa in Asia Minor and baptized by Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia, he was forced to flee to Greece after the population exchange. He became a monk on Mount Athos, where he was a disciple of Elder Simeon and later Elder Tikhon. Despite health issues, he spent his final days in a monastery near Thessalonica, leaving behind a great spiritual legacy.
