Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, the patron saint of the island of Corfu, was born in Cyprus and was appointed bishop of the city of Trimythous during the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great. Known for the miracles he performed through his prayers during his earthly life, this clairvoyant righteous man was glorified by the Lord even after his death through his incorrupt relics and countless miracles that continue to this day for those who approach him with faith. He strongly supported the condemnation of the heretic Arius at the First Ecumenical Council held in Nicaea in 325.
