THE MOST HOLY THEOTOKOS OF PEĆ
A triptych is a work of art composed of three connected panels, most often painted or carved, which together form a unified whole. In Christian art, particularly during the Middle Ages, triptychs were used as altarpieces or as parts of an iconostasis. The central panel is usually the largest and depicts the main scene, most commonly Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos, or saints of our Church. The side panels can be closed and feature depictions of saints, angels, the Lord, or the Mother of God. Thanks to its portability, the triptych was especially popular among travelling believers and clergy during the Middle Ages.
Our triptych is crafted from the finest pieces of ash wood, combining traditional icon-making techniques inspired by Byzantine and medieval originals. It is produced through metal casting and meticulous hand-finishing, enriched with 24-carat gold and 925 sterling silver. It is coloured with epoxy resins and adorned with zircon stones.

The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos of Peć, known as the “Pećka Krasnica.” According to tradition, it was painted by the hand of the Apostle Luke and brought from Jerusalem to Constantinople, and later to the Russian lands. Vladimir, the Baptizer of Rus’, was baptized before this icon. In 1219, Saint Sava received it in Nicaea from the Patriarch of Constantinople, when he was granted the Tomos establishing the Serbian Archbishopric.
